Wrapping Presents!🎁

One of my favourite things to do is wrapping presents for my family and friends. It's so satisfying for me when I see lots of presents under the tree for everyone🀩. But the thought of all that wrapping paper going to waste after someone has excitedly ripped it all up bothers me.

That's why last year, my family started wrapping things in brown paper or newspaper to make a difference. We made it nicer and brighter by decorating it with colourful pens (but don't stick stickers on it because that wouldn't make a difference to the environment) or wrapping a ribbon -or string- around it because you can always wear a ribbon in your hair or even pass it on and wrap another present with it! Or you can leave it plain, because sometimes it looks rather nice on it's own.

Facts on wrapping paper:

  • It is said that 227000 miles of wrapping paper are used every year.
  • Wrapping paper sometimes contains non-paper things like coloured shapes, glitter, plastics and this paper is often dyed and laminated, making it non-recyclable.
  • 108,000,000 rolls of wrapping paper will be thrown away in Britain.
Does that make you think, are you one of those people? Are you going to start looking for newspapers or things like that to wrap your presents in? I hope you are....🀞 If someone in your family gives you a present wrapped in wrapping paper and not something like newspaper click here for some crafts you can do to recycle that wrapping paper.

Thank you for reading this post, and come back next Sunday to read about cards!

The Introduction

Hello, my name is Violet and I have some tips and tricks on saving the environment.

When you read my Blog, you have to remember that this doesn't have to be all in one go, so if lots of us do things from my blog slowly and carefully, it'll soon add up to one person doing lots of things! You can, of course, do what you want to save the world, and if you have a question or another tip up your sleeve, you can comment if you want and help me with more ideas (but comment nicely please!πŸ˜‰).

Another place you can get lots of great information on the environment is reading 'This Book Is Not Rubbish' by Isabel Thomas. It has an amazing amount of tips for you to do in exceptional detail.

Now, I'm going to try and post every Sunday (the key word in that is 'try'πŸ˜‚) because sometimes I'm not that good at keeping on track. If there is some sort of holiday at that time of year- for example this Sunday is the first of December- I'll try and do a post in that theme!

Thank you for reading this introduction to my blog, and hope to see you on Sunday for my first tip!
